Holy Child School at Rosemont Breaks Ground for Historic Campus Expansion

Holy Child School at Rosemont has broken ground on a historic expansion project that will nearly double our Rosemont, PA campus in size. An official groundbreaking ceremony for the campus expansion was held on Wednesday, October 28 for a small group of community members.

The expansion includes facilities and additions that will impact all 320 children enrolled. The first stage of the project was a newly-renovated Early Childhood wing that was completed in summer 2020. The two most noticeable aspects of the upcoming expansion will be the building of the Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletics Center, to better accommodate school liturgies, assemblies, and the school play, and the creation of a regulation-sized, multi-sport turf field. The latter enables on-campus home games for the first time in our school’s history. The expansion project also includes a Middle School outdoor activity center, an environmental education area for all ages, and a prayer grotto. We are also almost doubling our on-campus parking. The specifics of the campus expansion plan were a result of widespread input beginning in 2017 from the school community, including surveys and interactive planning sessions with various constituencies.

During the official groundbreaking, Thomas G. Lengel, Head of School, addressed with brief remarks the volunteers and donors who made the historic moment possible. “The original plan was to have a celebration of the campus expansion that would coincide with the school’s annual Homecoming and Fall Festival. We all know why our plans had to change, and we aren’t able to share this day with our alumni, past parents, current parents, and students. However, the spirit of this moment remains strong, and I thank those who made it possible. It is through hard work, dedication, and generosity that we are standing here today celebrating the future of the school. I am truly grateful for your support of and commitment to Holy Child School at Rosemont.”

The completion of the turf field is scheduled for summer 2021, and the completion of the remainder of the new campus is scheduled for fall 2021.
