On Friday, October 16, Holy Child hosted Fall Spirit Day! While we weren't able to host our Homecoming & Fall Festival this year, we did manage to have a great day filled with school spirit! The celebration started in morning carline where we honored our Grade 8 field hockey and football athletes with individual pictures of them in their team jerseys lining our driveway. Although there wasn't a season to be had, we celebrate them and all that they've accomplished in past seasons on the fields. In addition, our beloved Falcon mascot made an appearance and greeted the students as they exited their cars, taking time to pose for pictures and give a friendly elbow bump!
During the course of the morning, students in Falcons through Grade 8 were treated to a special visit from Grade 6 Teacher and alum Steve Clarke '73 P'01'03 who took his pumpkin carving skills "on the road" through the halls of Holy Child. Mr. Clarke holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to carve a pumpkin. He visited 19 classrooms and carved 22 pumpkins! Thank you, Mr. Clarke!
At the end of the school day, the students were surprised with ice cream in their homerooms and listened to the much anticipated pumpkin raffle drawing led by our Student Council Co-Presidents. A lucky raffle winner from each homeroom in Grades 1-8 took home one of Mr. Clarke's masterpieces! For the final surprise of the day, all students, faculty, and staff were given a Holy Child Falcons pennant and individually wrapped cider donut to be enjoyed at home. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this day special!
