The Campaign for Holy Child: Inspiring Joyful Excellence

A capital gift is a donation to an institution to support the cost of a specific project, for example, endowment growth or, in our case, the construction of new facilities. Such a project is designed to enhance the current and future strength of the institution. A capital gift is usually a “stretch” gift and is larger than a usual recurring annual donation. Payment on a capital gift pledge can be spread out over several years.

Independent Schools finance approximately 80% of their operations with dollars raised by charging tuition. The remainder is covered with dollars raised through a draw on our endowment and tax-deductible fundraising through the Holy Child Fund, the Auction, and the EITC program. We rely on those programs to help cover the routine, necessary costs of running the school, such as educational materials, salaries, and building maintenance.

A capital campaign is launched and capital gifts are solicited when the school is ready to make significant improvements or fund major projects that will secure the school’s viability in the present, and will sustain its future.

Since its founding in 1949, Holy Child School at Rosemont has been supported by a faith-filled community that, in the words of our foundress, Cornelia Connelly, has been “ready, foreseeing and active” in their philanthropy. The students of today at Holy Child are benefitting from the generosity of parents and friends of the school who have gone before them. The outstanding educational programs and facilities enjoyed by our current students were paid for by previous capital gifts. The school depends on each generation of parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends - not just for support in the present, but to look to the future with generosity.

We encourage donors to spread their gift over a three to five year period. Payments may be structured to meet your financial needs: monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.
