Early Childhood
The wonder-filled years of preschool through Kindergarten provide a foundation of curiosity, social development, and experiential learning, celebrating each student’s uniqueness while building confidence and individuality.
Meet the grades that comprise our Early Childhood Program:
Young Falcons
The youngest children in our Early Childhood program, these students enter our school community as young as 2 years 7 months and must be potty-trained by the start of school. Young Falcons engage in experiential learning appropriate for preschool-aged children: hands-on activities and art projects, story time, songs and movement, free play in the classroom and on the playground, and a rotating schedule of music and library classes.
Young Falcons attend school Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. For children needing care beyond the end of the school day, please see below for information on our extended care options.
Falcons
Children ages 3 and 4 enter the next stage of their preschool education through our Falcons class, which offers greater social opportunities embedded in an engaging, fun learning experience. Falcons participate in experiential learning appropriate for preschool-aged children: hands-on activities and art projects, story time, songs and movement, free play in the classroom and on the playground, enrichment activities, and a rotating schedule of music and library classes.
Falcons attend school Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. For children needing care beyond the end of the school day, please see below for information on our extended care options.
PreKindergarten
Preparation for Kindergarten begins for children ages 4 and 5 in our PreKindergarten class. Reading, writing, and math lessons are supplemented by additional subject areas, including science, social studies, art, and physical education. Additional elements in a typical day include guided play both indoors and outdoors, music class, and library time. This marks the first year in our school when children begin to receive Spanish language instruction.
PreKindergarten students attend school Monday through Friday beginning each day at 8 a.m. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, their school day ends at 3:10 p.m. On Mondays and Fridays, they have the option to leave school at 12:30 p.m. For children needing care beyond the end of the school day, please see below for information on our extended care options.
Kindergarten
The eldest children in our Early Childhood program, Kindergarten students are children ages 5 and 6. Each school day begins with dedicated writing and reading lessons, followed by subjects like math, music, social studies, science, physical education, and religion. This marks the second year in our school when children begin to receive Spanish language instruction, and the first year using a dedicated art studio for creative projects. Indoor and outdoor play serve as opportunities for socialization each day.
Kindergarten students attend school Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Our full-day Kindergarten program is an important step in preparing children for the expectations and experience of full-day school days in Lower School. Afternoon Care & Extended Day Programs
Holy Child School at Rosemont offers an optional Afternoon Care program for children who need care beyond the end of their respective school days: Young Falcons, Faclons, and PreKindergarten students are eligible to enroll in Afternoon Care. This program lasts from the end of each grade's respective school day until 3:10 p.m.
For children in Young Falcons through Grade 3 needing care between 3:10 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., parents may enroll their child(ren) in our Extended Day Program.

At Holy Child School at Rosemont, every element of our Early Childhood program has been meticulously designed to achieve the academic and social goals of our youngest students, including curriculum, classroom design, faculty, and special events. We are committed to developing their social and physical skills while also celebrating each child’s uniqueness to build confidence and individuality.
Connecting us to values and our greater Holy Child mission, the Early Childhood program is dedicated to learning about the value of friendship, which happens both through intentional classroom lessons and candid moments between students.
Being Part of the Holy Child Community
Early Childhood students participate in and lead division-level and school-wide events throughout the year, connecting them to the greater community at Holy Child School at Rosemont. Prayer services, assemblies, guest speakers, and special events with parents are some of the important annual events that bring our students together and teach them about faith, friendship, caring, and community — some of the Holy Child Goals that we emphasize through our daily teachings as a Holy Child school.
Campus Features for Young, Curious Minds
To support the development of children's physical and fine-motor skills, Early Childhood students have access to an array of campus features, including a dedicated Early Childhood playground, our school library, two athletic turf fields, the O'Neill Gymnasium, and the Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletic Center.
Our youngest children in Young Falcons and Falcons access the gym and athletic center for free play while our PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students use the gym for physical education classes. In addition, our Kindergarten students utilize an exclusive art studio, located next to their classrooms, for creative projects.
Childhood is both a cherished time and a fleeting moment, a critical foundation and an enduring influence. It’s a stage in life that needs cultivating and care, protecting and celebrating. It deserves special effort, expert attention, and the space to grow with intention and kindness.
